Privacy Policy
Last updated 23 June 2026
This policy explains how Bop Off ("we", "us") handles your personal information. We are committed to protecting your privacy in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
What we collect
- Account information: the email address and password you provide when creating a host account.
- Profile information: a display name and avatar you choose.
- Gameplay information: quizzes you create, scores, and similar in-app activity.
- Player information: if you join a game with a code, we create an anonymous session for your device and store the nickname, avatar and scores you generate in that game. You do not need an account to join.
- Technical information: basic data such as IP address and browser type, collected automatically by our hosting and security providers to keep the service running and secure.
- Cookies and local storage: small data files used to keep you logged in and to remember settings such as your currency and recently played tracks.
How and why we use it
We use your information to:
- create and manage your account and profile;
- run the games and save the quizzes you build;
- operate, secure, and improve the service and understand how it is used;
- process payments if you choose a paid plan; and
- contact you about your account or important service changes.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run Bop Off, under agreements that protect your data. These currently include our database and authentication provider (Supabase), our website host (Vercel), and, when paid plans launch, our payment processor (Stripe). We may also disclose information where required by law.
Overseas storage
Some of these providers store and process data on servers located outside Australia, including in the United States. By using Bop Off you consent to your information being handled overseas. We take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the APPs.
How long we keep it
We keep account and profile information while your account is active. Live game data (lobbies, scores, and anonymous player rows) is short-lived and is removed after games end or expire. When you ask us to delete your account, we remove or anonymise your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must keep it by law.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can view and update your profile in your account at any time. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, contact us at privacy@bopoff.com.
Complaints
If you have a privacy concern, contact us first and we will try to resolve it. You may also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page.
